The last of the three commissioned pieces I did for Merna and Senan is of a sunset in Santorini, Greece.
Fun fact, both Merna and I actually lived in Greece for several years before moving to Canada, but neither one of us in Santorini. I have yet to go there actually, and according to Facebook, Merna and Senan are there right now enjoying their honeymoon.
Since I painted this before they had actually gone on their honeymoon, I had to use a bit of my imagination. We agreed to loosely use this photo of Santorini but to make it during a sunset, remove the tables, and insert the lovely couple watching the sunset.
I started by painting a sunset on an 18×24″ canvas.
Next I added the Greek church and then slowly kept adding more details.
Finally, I added the lovely couple watching the sunset, leaving us with the finished painting.
Here is a side view of the painting, where you can see that it is extended along the edges.
Finally, all three paintings together!
Hopefully Merna and Senan will send me some pictures of the paintings once they hang them up once they’re back from their honeymoon, and then I can update that awful picture of my carpet above…
Ever been to Santorini? Or anywhere in Greece? My brother and his girlfriend just got back from Santorini and looking at their pictures has made me slightly jealous!

Also, if you’re thinking of getting a commissioned painting for someone special for Christmas, now is the time to contact me. More information about commissioning a painting is available here. I’ve got a couple on the go already, and a very busy three months ahead, so I will likely only take on one or two more. Hope to hear from you! Cheers 🙂
