Once again this year I am fortunate enough to have been selected as one of the artists for the Ottawa Timeraiser, taking place on November 8th, 2014 at the Canadian Museum of History (which is actually in Gatineau, but okay…). Here is your chance to go home with an original piece of artwork, valued up to $1000, by pledging to volunteer in the community for a certain number of hours over the next 12 months.
Here is a short video that explains exactly how this event works.
Now where I come in. My painting, Rideau Canal at Night is one of the pieces of artwork being auctioned off.
So to score this painting, or any of the others, the day of the event you connect with local non-profits, bid 25-100 volunteer hours in a silent auction style, and then hope to be the highest bidder.
I’m really looking forward to this event as it’s always been such a great evening. It’s a chance to dress up a bit, sip a glass of wine and munch on some hors d’oeuvres, while getting to know some local charities and seeing how you can get involved. And you might even go home with some fantastic artwork. I can’t wait to go and I’d love to see your smiling faces there too while we try to be all fancy and talk art and charity work.
I am especially looking forward to talking to some of the 30+ non-profits in the Ottawa region to see how I can get involved. Last year when I attended, I was just getting ready to graduate from school and had no idea what city I’d be living in, but now that I know I’ll be in Ottawa for the foreseeable future, I can’t wait to contribute to our community.
Okay, your turn! Early-bird tickets are available now for only $10 HERE ($20 after Oct 17, 2014).
Event takes place on Sat. Nov 8, 2014 from 7-10pm at the Canadian Museum of History.
Let me know if you’re coming this year and/or if you’ve been before ! Mention it in the comments below or contact me any other way.
