GIVEAWAY – Win one of my paintings!

I came across a post yesterday by fellow artist/blogger Jann Alexander who blogs over at Pairings: Art + What Goes With It and she wrote about the close relationship between wine and art. She mentioned how artists often paint wine, paint while drinking wine, and galleries will serve wine while people look at art (buzzed/drunk people buy more art!). I realized that I love having a glass of wine while I paint, and I’ve also painted wine several times in the past. I searched through my archives and came across these two gems.

I’m feeling generous this morning (too much wine? Just kidding) so I’ve decided to do a GIVEAWAY as a way of saying THANKS. Specifically, thanks for reading my blog, ‘liking’ my Facebook page, sending me comments, buying my paintings, or commissioning a painting. I’m so grateful for all of your support in all these ways and more.

The first one is an oil painting on canvas paper that I did probably 5 years ago. It measures 8.5×8.5″.

The second one is a conte drawing that I did probably 7 years ago. It measures 7×10″.

Painting 2

You can win one of these two works by simply leaving me a comment telling me what your favorite type of wine is and which painting you’d prefer [Painting 1 or Painting 2].Β Or if you don’t like wine, tell me that! Contest is open to residents of Canada and USA only and closes at 9am EST on Friday, July 19th, 2013.

Get an additional entry by ‘Liking’ my Facebook page. Just click the ‘Like’ button on the right side panel, and leave a second comment telling me that you like me on Facebook.Β

I’ll announce the winner on Friday July 19th, 2013 and I will mail you your painting. Good luck πŸ™‚

Your first painting is beautiful! If I had that lovely glass I would pour a little white zinfandel in.

I would have to say my favourite wine is the one in front of me. …:)why limit yourself to one when there are so many choices. …. but your painting 2 reminds me of dan akroyds chardonnay with the same green cap. have to support the Niagara region! but also tasty. 1 or 2 I like both of your paintings. 2 i guess.

I enjoy most syrahs, but a bottle of Louis Jadot pinot noir left a good impression on me. Definitely worth the extra dollar. Painting 1.

They’re both awesome, but I think I prefer painting number 2. Red wines give me headaches:( So I stick with white wines:)

These are just BEAUTIFUL!!! Amazing, wonderful work, as usual! I’m definitely going to give it a shot, because I love owning other artists’ work! πŸ˜€
My favorite wine(s) are actually local wines, from about 2-3 hours from where I live. I have fallen IN LOVE with Ice wine, and Oliver Winery in Bloomington Indiana is one of my favorite wineries because they have BEAUTIFUL grounds (a HUGE vineyard, arbors overgrown with grape leaves, a koi pond, lots and lots of trees.. total relaxation). They also have a delicious ice wine, which they sell for $50 per 375 ml bottle, meaning we only buy it for special occasions, but never pass up on the tasting- $5 for one ounce of it is MORE than worth it! Brown County Winery near Bloomington has my favorite wines across the board (I love EVERYTHING there- dry, semi-sweet, and dessert), including a fortified wine called Black Raspberry Encore, which is delicious when enjoyed with dark chocolate. If local wines aren’t available, I’ll opt for a merlot or petit noir.. can you tell I’m a red wine girl? πŸ™‚
As far as my favorite painting goes- I love them both! But I think I love the one with the shine on the rim the best!
You’re totally right- when I painted nearly every day, I often HAD to enjoy a glass of wine, and a bit of jazz. I actually painted one of my favorite paintings I’ve done to date of a martini glass full of wine on top of a van Gogh picture book, and gifted it to a dear friend of mine who kept asking me if he could buy it. I guess I’d subconsciously known wine and art were perfect for each other, but never really thought about it until now!

These are both awesome paintings! It is hard to choose which one but if I must, I would have to say painting #1. I love your use of color in this painting and shimmer off the glass.

As for my favorite wine, it is hard to choose. I am not a big fan of white wine so I drink mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and really enjoy Casillero del Diablo.

Jane, that was definitely the most original answer! I don’t even think we have that here… do we? I realize you’re in a different time zone so you didn’t realize that it was past the deadline when you posted this, but unfortunately it was. I had already picked the winners when you posted this, but I’ll likely do a giveaway again in the future so good luck to you then πŸ™‚ It was great hearing from you anyways! I hope you’re well.

But congrats on the new place! And thank you for your kind comment. If you’re ever looking for artwork for your new place though, give me a shout and I’m sure we can work something out. I have a soft spot for students/new grads πŸ™‚
